In December 2012, Cybex International issued a recall for the Cybex 16110 plate loaded leg press commonly used in commercial gyms. A risk of injury is posed to the consumer in the event the weight platform locking mechanism failed causing the backrest to disengage during normal use. Incidents were reported prior to the recall notice although no injuries were reported at that time.
The leg presses were manufactured in the U.S. and sold between July 2009 and September 2012 at Cybex dealers and distributors. The range of serial numbers for the leg press model 16110 is D072216110 through G091416110.
It was advised that commercial facilities should stop use of the leg presses immediately and a free repair kit should be ordered and installed.
