This plug was used with the ISIS bottom bracket design to aide in crank arm removal. The crank bolt diameter is larger on the ISIS bottom bracket compared to that on the square-tapered shaft bottom brackets. The plug would thread into the bottom bracket shaft in place of the crank bolt on the ISIS bottom brackets. The plug functioned as a "stop" for the crank arm puller.
